It’s been a pretty nice day here in Ohio, but now it’s winding down. Time for some adverbs.
As I mentioned, today was a very pleasant spring day. Ashley and I went for walk in the morning, took her parents’ dogs to the park in the afternoon, and then had a little cook-out with her siblings. No one does cook-outs like we do them here in the Midwest. We don’t need a whole pig on a spit or half a steer smoked for seventeen hours. Just some burgers and dogs, some beans and potato chips, maybe some brownies or cookies, and we’re set. I love it.
Ash and I stopped at our local Kroger last night for what we thought would be a quick trip. But seemingly overnight the entire store had been rearranged. The aluminum foil is where the feminine hygiene products were. The spices are where the paper plates used to be. There are random aisles of cereal. Nothing – and I mean nothing – induces more white rage than confusion at the supermarket. We need to be able to get in and out of the grocery store in like ten minutes so we can rush home to put dinner on so it can be ready by the six o’clock news. We don’t have time to ask,”Yeah, uhm…where are the mixed nuts?”
Speaking of time, I see we’re still sticking to the ridiculous notion of Daylight Savings Time. I was hoping to bypass it this year, but that would literally take an act of Congress, and this is clearly not the session for action.
Saturday Night Live has been on a pretty decent streak lately. Last night’s episode was good, though I don’t know why someone like Justin Timberlake needed so much back-up in the form of Steven Martin and Chevy Chase and loads of others. What really got me laughing though was the “commercial” for Nuva Bling.
The concept alone – a diamond-ringed diaphragm – is itself brilliant. The women in the skit played it perfectly. What I really loved the most though were some of the graphics.
Faboosh! So funny. You can watch it here if you missed it.
That’s all I got for now. I hope the upcoming week is a good one for all of you.
